A Scary Sight: Signs Your Hair is Damaged

We all want bouncy, shiny hair like celebrities, or the models we see in magazines and shampoo commercials. Unfortunately, not all of us have access to a personal stylist, and our daily hair routines (washing, blow drying, styling, applying heat, etc.) can create havoc on once luscious hair.
If you are worried that your hair might be damaged, there are a few tell-tale signs that are dead giveaways that your hair is in distress.
Split ends: This is a no-brainer. To inspect for split ends, hold the tips of your hair up, close to your face. If you see single strands breaking off into multiple pieces, these are split ends. Split ends can be caused by a number of factors, and unfortunately there isn’t any cure to reverse the effects. Trimming may be necessary to prevent breakage.
Tangles: Hair is supposed to be naturally moist. If you find yourself struggling to run a comb or brush through your hair after showering, you might have a problem. Especially if you’ve used the aide of conditioner or de-tangler.
Not so shiny- Healthy hair has a naturally glossy texture. If your hair looks dull, it could be damaged. To restore shine, you have to restore your hair to a health, which means preventing hair shafts from breaking.
Hard to control- If you have more frizzies than usual, or can’t seem to maintain a style, you might have damage. Damaged hair breaks off into smaller pieces, which aren’t easy to maintain.
Problems With Hair Dye- Damaged hair doesn’t respond to the best hair extensions like healthy hair. Hair that absorbs too much color, or turns out darker than expected, can be an indicator that damage is present. Similarly, colored hair that fades very fast can also be a sign.
